Defiance (Defiance, #1)

Defiance (Defiance, #1) - Stephanie Tyler 4.5 starsAt RT I was lucky enough to meet with Angela James at the pre-convention blogger get together and again at a luncheon held by Carina Press.  She was nice enough to put this title on my radar on Twitter and then emphasize it to me at the convention.  When asked if we wanted a copy to send her an email I jumped at it once I got back and unburied from some of the craziness that was RT.  I have to say I'm so happy she was nice enough to offer a copy that I enjoyed thoroughly.Tru left Defiance to get away from the evil that was her father and to make something of herself.  She saw acts being performed on women and the way they were treated by some members of the MC that she just couldn't handle but also found herself drawn to the man that would never be allowed to be hers by the ways of the club.  She's back and bringing with her an amazing amount of trouble because she ended up taking shelter with another MC when the destruction caused by a meteor wipes out normal civilization and the clubs have taken over running things outside the official government.  When she gets dumped back in Defiance she's beaten down but her spirit is still there and causes her to make a choice that could be the end of her or could give her the man she's always wanted.  I loved watching her struggle with reconciling her hatred of the treatment of the women in the club and the love of a man who puts on the game face with members but holds her heart in his rough hands.  She's very strong and wants the right things so it was nice to see them both work through things to get to the heart of the matter.Casper… dear lord…  Casper…  I adored this rough hard man right down to all his piercings.  He's such a hard man to get to know and beneath his hard-as-nails exterior there is a man who fights for what is his even while being hurt down to the core by some of what he has to do.  He loves Tru enough to help her leave when her father pushes the limits but leaves them both with a mark down to the soul of how love can feel with your soulmate.  He's worked for years behind the scenes to set things up for the betterment of the club but with Tru's return the timetable for his final push to control the MC that is rightfully his has been moved up.  He does what needs to be done but his heart and soul is wrapped up with the woman that has always held him even while she was gone.  He has this way of getting others to follow him because of his actions and not because they feel they have to out of a sense of loyalty.  He asks for nothing from anyone that he wouldn't be willing to give himself and that inspires an amazing amount of loyalty that others just can't command.  I'd love to be held and adored by him even at his roughest because you can feel that his heart is truly in it unlike when he was with other women.  He's not perfect but in this world you can't be anything other than a survivor and to do that you have to be willing to put everything on the line for who and what you love.As I said Angela was nice enough to give me a copy of this with no pressure for any kind of review although she like most publishers love it when we do review them ….  especially if we love them.  I adored this story even with the rough edges of the MC world and am looking forward to more stories. Thanks again!!
